Less is more: Syslogic Embedded PC of the Compact S Series

Fanless industrial computer

Pressemeldung der Firma Syslogic GmbH

Downsizing is not only a promising approach in the automotive industry, but also in computer technology. The embedded specialist Syslogic limits itself to what matters most with industrial computers of the Compact S series – without making concessions when it comes to durability or reliability.

Consistent downsizing was top priority in the specifications for the new industrial computer of the Compact S series. The embedded specialist Syslogic not only focuses on a compact housing with its new box PC, but also on a clever interface assignment in conjunction with an economical processor platform.

Industrial Computer: Frugal despite processing power

The dual core processors of the Intel Atom E3825 series are used. The 64-bit processors manage the balancing act between full performance and low power consumption. They have a processing power of 1.33 GHz with a power consumption of 6 watts. For particularly computationally intensive applications, Syslogic offers an optional quad core version with an Intel Atom E3845 processor.

Flexible connectivity thanks to its unique interface assignment

Despite the compact dimensions, the new Compact S industrial computer convinces with versatile connectivity options. The box PC has CAN, USB, RS232 and RS 485 interfaces. It can be equipped with up to three Ethernet ports and it can be expanded with WLAN, GPS, GSM and Bluetooth modules.

Small in shape, big in quality and reliability

As with all box PCs from Syslogic, the small Compact S computers are robust and durable. They have a housing of protection class IP40, have no moving parts and are suitable for continuous operation in the temperature range from –40 to +70 degrees Celsius.

In addition, modern security features ensure a high level of reliability. The industrial computers have a hardware watchdog, which restarts the box PC after a power failure. They also have a temperature monitor. In addition, a cold cap supports the real-time clock (RTC) maintenance-free. Optionally, Syslogic integrates a NVRAM (non-volatile random-access memory). This ensures the persistence of the data. This means that the data is preserved, even in the event of a power failure.

Designed for uncompromising industrial applications

Syslogic sales manager Florian Egger says the following about the new computers: „The Compact S box PCs with dual core processors are uncompromisingly designed for the industry and offer an excellent price-performance ratio.“ In particular, they are suitable for traffic control systems, industrial automation or for the areas of clean technology, says Egger.
